Re: Winter riding prep
FS365 is okay if you only ride once a few days. ACF50 is much better, just cleaned off a goodish layer of it over the weekend (the cases and front were mainly mud and shale).
While on spray the front HT/ plug with silicone grease stops the front cylinder cutting out. It depends how anal you want to be about it, mines only needed a small touch up of the cases in 3 years of most weather riding (Front exhaust studs are Suzuki'ed) Castrol Super R esque Chain lube; Castrol, Wurth chain Wax or SDoc100 all good. Scotoiler is best for no/ low maintenance

Re: Winter riding prep?
acf 50 is fantastic stuff and works brilliantly i think too, but it is expensive, so be prepared to hand over a bit of dosh, but it's WELL worth every penny!!

It's expensive for a can, so I would avoid spraying it straight from the can, I'd only do that on hard to reach places. I spent the money on a nice cloth and spray small amounts on that and rub it all over the bike. Works wonders as a back to black!

Re: Winter riding prep?
well I passed with one minor for poor positioning on a mini roundabout so well pleased. ACF and castrol chain lube on order!
How many coats does a tin do? and how often do you wash your bikes in winter once its been treated cuz surely the stuff will wipe off with a sponge? |

A tin should last you a while. Put the can in a warm (not boiling!) container for 10 mins and it should spray a bit better. I find it's easier to put it on a cloth and wipe everywhere (except brakes). You shouldn't have to reapply for a while however I like seeing my bike clean - even its just for a couple of miles in this weather ACF-50 will attract the dirt and grime. Don't worry, its doing its job and when you do come to clean it off, everything will be shiney underneath. I've been using Castrol lube but just taken delivery of a can of Wurth which is supposed to be excellent. |

Re: Winter riding prep?
Yup, with an SV650, as above (I never did & it rotted before my eyes), or buy a Triumph & just ride & wash....simples! Triumph build quality is amazing. I washed the Daytona once before winter & then after.....Not a hint of rust at all
