Trouble is with a stalinist state is probably most of the country is against the childish pleb and his cronies but can't voice their thoughts or escape, if you nuke them then you're going to kill millions of innocent people. it would probably be best to find where him and his followers are and carpet bomb them to eliminate him and any major threat of it continuing. The country is majority impoverished so people probably just go with him as life's easier that way

China have voiced more opposition to north korea than the US and the south

Any attack on North Korea will trigger a massive response. As we have seen over the past 20 years the only way these regimes collapse is from the inside.

No matter how much you may hate your government, you will hate more any foreigner that attacks your country.

War, bombs etc. are not the answer. But unfortunately I don't know what the solution is. The people need to be empowered, but how?

Although it would possibly do the job I cannot see any nation resorting to carpet bombing again if they want any credidibility left afterwards. The amount of civilian casualties would, as the others have said, make any invading force hated as much or more as their government. Plus it didn't work in the '50s or in Vietnam.

The US gained a reputation for wading in without being asked under Bush but can you really see a liberal like Obama doing the same? It would have to be instigated by the North making the first move and it would have to be a biggie to bring outside countries in. The US (for example) would get praise for holding firm if they were only hit by a minor strike on, say, one of the ships involved in the war games currently in play with the South. It may take another Pearl Harbour to kick it all off.
