Hmm not sure maybe old battery is a bit out of condition/sulphated? Be happier to see around 13.5v at 5k

Its never been that high even when I did have a duff reg/rec last year the highest was 13.3v with the brand new one.

According to the guide if its over 13.5v at 2500rpm and below 14.8v at 5000rpm then the system is fine, is the SV slightly different then?

Nah thats a good range, keep an eye on it. i just thought 12.9 may be a bit low at 5k with lights on but if your bike has run happy at that then maybe ok? Im a mechtard tbh and just followed the guide and mine been ok since with the addition of that bit of extra wire. Maybe an orger of electrical wizardry can take you further than i can if needed.

No all advice greatly received Geo, I hate vehicle electrics with a vengeance. I haven't ridden the bike since changing the battery but have started it and idled for 5-10 mins, the real test will be on the way home.

I know the voltage from the alternator should be 70v+ but what should be coming out of the reg/rec black and red wires?

Default Re: (Now with Voltage Figures) Battery or charging fault? Curvy.

How do these figures look guys, seem OK to me and accordig to the fault finding guide Geodude pointed me to:

Note: Brand new battery this morning

Engine off 13.9v

Idle (Lights off) - 14.1v
5k (Lights off) - 13.9v

Idle (Lights dipped) - 13.7v
5k (Lights dipped) - 12.9v <--Suspect?! I think I wrote it down wrong.

Idle (Lights full) - 13.6v
5k (Lights full) - 13.3v
