A few years ago I had a collapsed disc at the base of my spine, with some trapped nerves thrown in for good measure.
I was on an elephants dosage of Morphine, Codine, Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and 'herbal' remedies along with steroids, heat treatment and physio.
NOTHING would touch the pain, it was a very dark time in my life.
Somebody suggested I try a TENS and I admit, I was sceptical.
It turned out to be the best fifty quid Id ever spent.
It got me through to my surgery a year later and helped my recovery and dependancy on Morphine.
If you dont fancy taking the plunge, why not hire one from a local pharmacy and see if it works for you before buying?

I have a TENS machine and have even used it while on the bike. It reduces the pain I suffer with following surgery in 2006. I tried to use it on my shoulder and neck, but got the placement wrong and ended up making things worse by twitching the muscles for hours when I fell asleep! I felt like I had done a work out that night.

Anyway, I don't use mine very often, but when I do it is for serious neuropathic pain that drugs do not touch.
