that'll cover you with the post office but not with ebay.

Proof of postage is not proof of receipt and until the buyer receives the goods they're still the sellers responsibility.

Well there you go. I tend to send everthing by courier anyway unless it's small and light as, although Royal Mail is good value really, with the recent price increases it's as cheap by carrier unless it's a letter.

According to the Ebay website: "For item not received cases, if sellers post the item within their stated handling time and provide a valid proof of delivery for the item, eBay is likely to decide in their favour."

Note the word "likely" in the sentence above. Even if you've got proof of delivery Ebay can still screw you, and there seem to be quite a lot of disgruntled sellers on the web.

well, It seems good old royal mail may have blown it up because it had a lithium battery and was not marked as such...... Unlikely , but i await a letter to the contrary.

Happened to me twice and its sad but easy to fall into this trap. Wish people could just be honest but some are just greedy. So Recorded Delivery it must be to be sure (ANd yes, not a big fan of Royal Mail either but for lesser value items RD covers value up to £35 I think so less than insured courier in some cases).

I send anything bigger than a letter by courier. Their delivery is audit trailable. In addition, they are generally always cheaper than royal mail if I use the Hermes drop off shop 2 day service via an on line service like parcels 2 go.

Hermes are f***ing incompetent. Booked a collection with them and no sign of them for a week.

eBay punters mad about it, I'm not most impressed either.

Used loads of couriers in the past with no drama.

Its the reason I only send certain items non recorded. RM are getting a lot better. Canada Post are a joke, 4 weeks to deliver a international parcel (non tracked), send it tracked 10 days (If the US hadn't stopped it at JFK for containing discs it would have been <7).

Its the reason I go to the local collect point. Had no issues with the usual collection point to date. Collect+ are okay but the collection points are few and far between

YC is right about Hermes. Bought a Fuel pipe off a member here and they managed to put two dents in it!
