30 all the way by the look of it. I agree that on the bit over the M6 it would be easy to let things creep up a bit but there's a reminder it's a 30 as you go past the nursery and then two sets of "SLOW" in the road approaching the officers and the roundabout immediately behind them.

Reason I ask is that there are a few "operational" abnormalities that would tend to indicate it would be unlikely they were carrying out a pre-planned speed check in the manner you describe. It is possible that they were part of a "speed watch" programme which is more about raising public awareness rather than seeking prosecutions. What car were they using?
Well, RH I can always rely on you to give a intelligent response rather than don't speed, or hug a tree like some.

It was a standard car from what I could see and the gun they were holding looked like a standard speed gun and the one was using the way I've seen others do it.

So I concede it may be what you describe above but there are better places further up the road to increase awareness, the speed humps control speed perfectly well.

break the law pay the price, I've got 9 points and you don't hear me whinging.
Listen to the ark angel.
Yes, actually high profile policing is more efficient at speed reduction than stealth tactics, so yes I would prefer it if there were warnings.

I forgot, nobody speeds on here, funny that, considering every ride out I've been on with anyone off here I've normally been the one going the slowest speed ( which has still been higher than the limit)

See above.

I wasn't speeding when I saw these police parked anyway, but I certainly warned as many as I could going in the other direction, don't care a crap if it's naughty.

It is 30 RH but with good visibility and not being built up I do 40 along here as most do, but slow down where I have to.

I personally drive /ride to conditions (weather, geography, time of day etc) not speed limits so much.

Nothing particularly intelligent about it, just been involved in to much boring admin......

It's very unusual to see a police car (or van) conducting speed checks parked on private property. Any planned operation or activity has to be risk assessed and you would need to get the landowners permission to do so. It's also an activity rarely conducted outside of Roads Policing (big fast car), unless it's the Speed Watch programme which is a community based initiative.

If you're not sure or even just curious just go back and ask them, they always welcome a bit of public engagement......the public won't win any support by ignoring them......!

Next time I see these I will ask them, I was tempted at the time to shout "funds low again in your nick?" glad I didn't now if they were only doing a community project or something lol

More efficient at slowing people down for the duration of the speed trap maybe, but they certainly do sod all to keep people slow.

There's two roads near me I can spot a speed trap on and slow in time and three I can't. Guess which ones I ALWAYS slow for? (Anecdotal I know but I doubt I'm alone)

Same with speed cameras the real problem with them is they only slow people for the duration of the camera. They really ARE just revenue raising unless put right putside schools or in accident black spots.

I too generally ride to the current conditions, but I always slow down to 30 in a 30!
I know how quickly I ride and if I was stopped or caught I know I would be in the wrong, regardless of the methods used! At the end of the day speeding is speeding wherever its done whether you like it or not!

I have no points and haven't had any for years - I have a nose for speed traps. I don't break 30 limits so that does help, I consider anyone who regularly does to be a complete ar5ewipe. 40 limits I treat as a maximum 50 limit and 50 limits I regard as a 70 limit. NSLs I've renamed GLFs.

Sounds very similar to the way I ride.

Of course most of my speeding points were for breaking goods vehicle limits. Havent had any yet on the bike (fingers crossed)
