The odd one now and then doesn't do that much harm, it was all the other dicking around that causes the potential harm, hitting the parked car being prime example.....

Apologies but I don't know you so my perception of you/the riders of the video hasn't changed. Unless it was set up/the people were (minorly) compensated/apologised to by fastbike I'm not sure it changes a lot.

If someone hit my car and rode off I'd be ****ed off, if someone repeatedly backfired outside my business/house I'd also be ****ed off. Therefore I wouldn't do it to someone else.

Maybe more of a gixxerjunkies vid, their members are under 50.

In reply to the OP's question it's much harder on a pointy and helps if the fuelling's a bit off.
I'm not sure I've ever successfully done it using the killswitch, previously it'd bubble and pop fairly predictably on an aggressive downshift though

Oh in answer to the OPs question a Pointy is fuel injected so hitting the kill switch tends to stop fuel being injected when you open the throttle..... The bike in the video was an early Hornet and that has carbs which obviously continue to work without electricity.
