I mentioned a sticking piston due to the fact that there is an area of disc that appears not to be being touched by the pad and seeing as its on the outside of the disc it would probably be the top piston and not the lower one . Agreed that the pistons wont move out together but it will be obvious if one refused to move at all or even only marginally .

No it wouldn't, both pistons are on the same side of the disc. If either piston moves the pad will contact the disc.
