I don't have them, but I recently spoke to to a guy at Bridgestone UK about tyres for the SV650.

They recommend the 020 firstly.
The 014 "might" last a little longer than 010's.
They should be slightly better in the wet than 020's.

They DO NOT recommend mixing 010/020.

FWIW.....

Default 014's

I have 014's fitted front and rear. They are bloody excellent tyres and I cannot emphasise that enough.

They have excellent turn in and the feel once in the corner is the most striking thing about them. They just feel so secure, and give you so much feedback that you feel you can trust them as much as you want.

The warmup of the tyres is quick, and the dry weather grip excellent.

I can't personally report on the wet weather grip, but on a ride back from cadwell before I got the 014's, me and my father rode in a monsoon, with my dad on 014's on his blade, and he basically buggered off from all of us on inferior rubber.

So its a big thumbs up from me for 014's, they may have slightly less dry grip than diablo corsas, but the tyre life is better and on an sv with limited power is grip the most important thing? Also I have read/heard from some reports that the 014's are supposed to have better feedback than diablos, but thats only what i've heard.

My small amount of currency's worth.

What is the maximum width you guys are using on the rear? Can you fit 180 or 190 on the 650 as on the 1000?

Dont worry, ive answered my own question after reading some other posts

hmm, i know you guys all seem to be liking this tyre but,

i was at silverstone on wednesday with ben hallows it was the first time i had been to this circuit so didnt know what to expect. the track was good but the conditions were changeable, we went from ****ing rain to bone dry and back to ****ing rain again.

i was riding the thundercat with a brand spanking new pair of the bridgestone 014's, now i wasnt expecting them to be miles better than the 010 but i was hoping for precictable handling, half decent levels of grip and well a good all round tyre.

none of the above happened, the bike got into a huge slide on one of the bends, due to a slighty damp circuit i was guessing, i wasnt pushing it that hard as i was still learning the circuit, the levels of grip were **** poor in the dry aswell, they work well enough on the brakes but i didnt feel confident enough to gas it till the bike was upright.

on one of the highspeed corners (110mph) the front began to slide briefly, again a moment i wont forget.

as for tipping the bike in for a turn well it didnt, it tipped in to a slight angle but not far enough to corner fast or confidently,

all but my first trackday i have managed to get my knee down on at least 1 corner i didnt even get close on this one and after seeing the pictures i was no where near as far over as i am in my current avatar on the same bike.

that was the track experiance, now for the road,

after we returned from the track i rode over to selkent from boxhill, ****ing it down matrix styleeee the bike felt like it was drifting around every corner even where there was no standing water, i cane to a round about that i needed to go straight over but the bike felt like it was gonna go straight in to the bushes near the exit.

in the dry weather this morning i was still experiancing the un inspiring ride and am now seriously considiring changing them with less than 200 miles on them!

I have done about 1,500 miles on my rear 014 and I am still very impressed with their grip

however I don't think I'm the only person who has issues with them when cold. I had a lowside (for the first time in over 10 years of riding) on them. They also do squirm and shimmy until they are red hot.

To sum up I am a bit disappointed compared with the 010.

My mate who rides a ZX9R got less than 1,500 out of a rear.

I'm gonna try Z6's (though I am tempted to try AVon Vipers for the summer!) as they seem to offer grip and distance

Well im now on my second rear and still the original front.

They are excellent all round. Dry, wet, cold, anything you throw at them. The turn in and feel of security is amazing.

The negatives: the first rear tyre did about 3000 miles, but my second rear is about cooked now. It will have done maybe 1500 miles...... eeek.

Seems the sunnier weather and the faster/more silly riding associated with it has buggered them.

I'd be interested to see what other people get, but the problem is tyre wear is very much dependent on riding style and type of riding.

If anyone has any questions about them, PM me. I've been riding in all conditions (even some ice), so all situations are covered.

Dan.
