Agree with Cloggsy, the Alpine Star waterproofs are excellent. Don't let in any water whatsoever and dry in minutes when you get back home. Do buy one size bigger than normal as they're obviously designed for some tiny Italian. Not only are they good value but they're the only waterproofs I've seen that look reasonably cool too.

went to a bike shop
went to millets (camping shop )
and army and navy (army shop)

the bike shop had a once piece suit for 45 quid.
millets had nothing
the army shop had a sniper suit (an oversuit that keeps the water out - warmth in - and dries in seconds) for 25 quid.

tempted by the sniper suit - but trouble is - its in camo colours - so id be an ovious target to the taliban drivers and i might look like a tit

Aye, why is it that all the bike waterproofs are such dark colours? A suit with hi-viz patches would make a lot of sense.

i'd like massive hi-viz pathces, but then I own a leather jacket with huge reflective yellow patches that makes me look like the fastest binman in the world.

I'm convinced that hi-vis clothing makes you feel safer as you expect everyone to see you. Which is the danger - they won't. Expect to see them (through practised observation) but don't ever expect them to see you.

Oh and one piece suits are so awkward I really wouldn't bother. As for the sniper suit, yes, you would look a tit.

Especially in camoflage gear on a yellow bike. But you would stand out
