Rest assured. If Homebase and Ikea is open, which they will be, petrol stations will be open.

Most Tesco supermarket pumps are pay at the kiosk or pay at the pump. Pay at the pump using your debit/credit card. I am sure there are others as well. Open 24/7 365 days of the year

OK, so on reflection, it was a stupid question with an obvious answer. In my plea of mitigation I'd like it taken into account that I avoid motorways whenever possible, especially trips of the type I'm planning and I never travel anywhere on Bank Holidays.

Ride - yes, but strap anything of any size to the rear seat and advancing age means great difficulty getting on and off the bike!

Normal Tesco store PFSs close at 6pm Christmas Eve and reopen at 9am on Boxing Day. Different times may apply to Extras and Expresses.

Thanks for your help one and all - a couple of motorway junction services will be duly plugged into the chosen route, weather permitting.

I know what you mean. I have difficulty getting my leg over the pillion seat when there's nothing on it after an hour or so riding.

All the big boys stay open all day. BP, Shell, TExaco and suchlike. Its the independently run ones that close.

It's not the fuel coming from holland thats the issue. It's getting from Leicester to Invergorden (30 miles north Inverness) that's going to be the fun part...

I'm sure you meant to say getting your leg over the pilion seat when there's something ON it...
I have the same problem when I have the tail pack on the pilion seat...major leg cramps!
