Whilst i would have loved to have seen that how much power do you really need for the road. I'm only new to this biking game but i've had quick cars before and they wouldn't touch the SV in straight line. As far as i can see so far (i reckon i've only unleashed 10% of the bikes potential) the SV has enough power to provide all the fun i could ever want on the roads. Also I vaguely recall that the new R1s can do 130mph in 2nd, the point being? Lovely on a track i would imagine but for the roads?

Also an R1, i think my licence would disappear in minutes unless i stacked it due to the bike being way beyond my abilities.

It was in "Biking Issues" and, believe it or not, it wasn't me that started it

It was started by an SV-er who has/had one as a loan bike. Liked it, too, I think, other than what sounds like an issue caused by poor maintainance.

Why "fair enough"? They're both bikes that aren't SVs.

You ridden one? Bland and characterless they are not, I can assure you. Unless by "bland" and "characterless" you really mean boringly reliable. They work properly in wet weather, too :P

Slower in the real world? That's a brave call!!!

In YOUR opinion, I am not trying to turn this forum into a Hornets Nest 2, i was adding MY opinion which is what forums are all about..

I would much rather have an Hornet than an sv, i have ridden a Hornet and owned an SV and IMHO the Hornet is a better bike, i come on here because the peeps here are friendly curteous and as a rule not usually so CLOSED minded....

Jabba, I did not say that you started it. Just noted that there is currently a lot of discussion over the Hornet on this Forum.

Yes, I have ridden a Hornet and stand by what i say.
Certainly, on todays overcrowded roads, the more useable torque of the SV would make it quicker at covering ground than a Hornet but maybe not in a straight drag race. (Not many Santa Pods around though! )

being totally honest, I have also ridden a mark one Fazer and reckon that is also better than the Hornet. Just my opinion though.

True - there have been enough defections to the "4-Pot Massive" in the last year and enough is enough
