its possible to get a stone stuck in the teeth on the rear 'sprocket' which will rip a hole in the belt.... was told this at the NEC on the Buell stand

You ar forgetting that belt drive also doesn't have nearly as much power loss as chain drive....

You'll need one of those fully encased covers... You know, like the ones on Honda C90's

From (very hazy) memory, well adjusted chain drive - 97%, shaft drive - 85%, belt drive - no idea.

I saw this happen to an early Buell Cyclone at my local racetrack. Talking to the guy afterwards he said it was the 2nd time it had happened. The belt was AUD$800.00 and fitment required the removal of the swinging arm, all told replacement labout 8+hrs.

Suffice to say he was selling the bike.

If Suzuki wanted a belt drive on the bike they would have bloody well put one on it. It looks good, but that is about it. Hmmm lets see, rubber belt, or steel chain. I think I'll stick with my set up thanks.
