Bad news, but at least there's no real damage done.

Spray the lever joint out with WD40 and work it up and down a good few times, let all the muck drip away, then work in some thicker motor oil. this should do the trick.

Lavender always reminds me of my Grans Wardrobe and searching for my Christmas pressies beforetime.

Yup- they also seem to think it's easy to push a bike around with the engine off and that it can get through gaps about 12" wide

I read a "Bike" article on what to look for when dropping a bike (I binned mine for the first time last week ). The things that I remember of the top of my head, were:
That it's not visibly leaking anything (if it is, forget riding it- get it taken to a dealers),

that the bars, mirrors, clutch/break levers are not bend.

that the bar ends aren't broken.

That the gear pedal/exhaust isn't bent (depends on the side you drop it I suppose!)

that there are no unusual noises when riding it,

Ride it for a mile, then pull over and check it again (eg no oil coming out, etc.),

"If in doubt, get a dealer to check it out"

Hope your bike is okay!
