Cameras do NOT have to be painted yellow. They only have to conform to high-vis rules if the operating partnership wants to keep the revenue from fines.

There's a digital GATSO near me, that covers both traffic lights and a single lane of a dual-carriageway. I've seen that flash many times as people have sped up through the lights to jump them on amber (it's set just before traffic lights - presumably they've had a problem with people jumping them). That is a £120 fine and 6 points - £60/3 each for a TS10 offence (traffic light) and also the SP30.

Insurance goes up about 1/3 with those two on your record.

In this morning's Manchester Metro - the front cover goes on about 1.8m speed camera fined in the last year. The article is written completely against motoring and from the normal biased "speed is the cause of every single motoring accident" stance. It then goes on to talk about banning people for 12 months for any speeding offence and installing digital surveillance in vehicles so your speed could be monitored.

Why don't we just send all our money to the government now? I for one will be at the forefront of any revolution that comes about as there is an ever growing force to try to control us all like robots. Blair is signing away all our rights to the EU as we speak.

Yeah, if you look further down it says:

Quote:
The rules will be binding for every police force in and applying to join the netting-off scheme, where money from fines is re-invested in more cameras at dangerous places. National guidelines for other police force areas will be published in the new year by the DTLR and the Home Office.
Hmm, this probably means that ones that aren't in this scheme can place cameras anywhere they like??

I don't have a problem with traffic light cameras being yellow or not as going through traffic lights on red is genuinely dangerous!!!

Its confusing on the yellow issue. I was reading the thing somewhere else on the revenue recovery.
Yeah, on the lights cameras I tend to assume there may be a camera there these days!

Just outside Manchester, I'll take a picture of it next time I go past the area and post it up on this site for you.

It's one of these (but yellow):
