Sorry, I read that wrong. So, that is a slip-on huh? How can you tell the difference from in that picture? How does it attach if you end up cutting?

In that picture if you follow the pipe down from the can there is a clamp where the link pipe connects to the original pipe.
To fit a slip on you just get a hacksaw with a metal type blade and spend some time getting intimate with the bike, then clamp the new kit on and robert is your dad's brother. Btw, I haven't actually put a new can on, but it doesn't seem complicated. |

I think this pic displays what I bought, only on an SV1000 instead (twins). Does that tell a different story?

The SV1000 has bolt on cans and is twins. The SV650 all have slip on types, so will always need cutting unless you replace alot of the pipework at the same time.

Nice looking cans, though.

well, ****. I don't want to have to cut anything. That voids my warranty to hell. I was hoping to keep the old parts ready in the case I had to replace them for warranty work/sale if needed. And, to boot, the people that sell Wolf told me obvious fabrications. He said that I wouldn't have to do any cutting, and made sure to ask me what type of bike I had. Blargh!

It doesn't mess up the warranty over here.
Obviously they're not going to replace the exhaust pipe for you, but I'd say that's the least likely thing to go wrong on an SV. |

I still think that this is the exhaust I bought, only in a single unit instead of a twin system. For both the SV1000 as well as the sv650, it only gives one option (silencer only), and the price roughly doubles because of the twin cans. So, shouldn't that mean that the SV650 exhaust bolts on just like the SV1000's? I know headers aren't involved, but it sounds like some pipe is involved... |

Does anyone out there have a 03' SV650 that they bought a Wolf for? Was it an application where you have to cut?

I can tell you for an absolute fact that the SV650 (in any guise that I have looked at) does not have bolt on silencers.
If you look at the back of those cans, they are bolt on. If you've bought one of those then I don't know for sure how it would fit, but I suspect you'll have a link pipe that bolts onto that can then goes onto the end of the cut off pipe. |
