I thought Billie Piper was surprisingly good; the new doctor, not bad. But the script? Jesus it was awful. What the hell was Russell T Davies thinking of? Shan't bother with further episodes and will treasure excellent memories of far better programmes.

for someone without a tv Im always interested in these threads.... as yet Ive yet to read anything to convince me to get one

but then maybe thats because Im biased and remember the days of hiding behind the settee cos the daleks were absolutely terrifying... [and before anyone comments I was about 5 at the time ] so nothing can compare to that....

I liked it.

First episode was a bit lame as it has to set the scene etc, but on the whole I enjoyed it and shall be watching again.

Thought The Dr was fast witted and tongue in cheek humur and not so pompuss as all the other portraid.

Def be watch again,

slightly lame script but the first episodes of most things are pretty awful so i'll give it a few more episodes before I decide...

Will never be a patch on the older ones but they have said they are going for a different style of show now...

Billie Piper Hot ??? Were you watching the same show ? her acting wasn't too bad tho

I was killing myself laughing at one point - the bit where the Dr was being strangled by the disembodied arm then I realised what was wrong...

It was being played for laughs and there just wasn't the same menace you got with the old series (by which I mean the Jon Pertwee episodes when he was trapped on earth.) You would get the first episode where "something" was going on and there would be hints of evil doings and the suspense would build up over the weeks before finally the Cybermen come out of the London sewers or the Yeti swarm out of the Underground! This time round it all happened too quickly, the Autons were simply not scary, the final episode of Spearhead from Space still freaks me out...

I wonder if this new 45 minute format is aimed at the American market - 1 hour shows including commercials. It just won't be the same without the cliffhanger at the end. A 45 minute slot is not enough to develop the plot and have a satisfactory ending, instead, you get a buildup and everything is resolved in a rush the last five minutes

However, overall pretty good, I'd like to see what the good Dr has been up to in the last few years, quite a few hints were dropped.

I think they could have done a lot better with the special effects. It looked very low budget and it was so cheesey it's unreal.

I will however keep watching it to see if it gets better as it shows some promise.

Still laughing at those manikins wandering around. with built in guns that appeared from somewhere.

Ok acting. Lame script. I'll give it another go next week but if it doesn't pick up then it's off to the pub an hour earlier
And where did the shop dummies get their built in hand guns from?!?
