Same here- I make a point of changing gear to keep it near the beginning of the powerband for most of the time. Similarly, re: the 90mph thing, I have in the past criticised the SV for exactly that (I complained it wasn't quick enough to be able to accelerate away from trouble when riding at 85). Now, I just change down to 5th/4th and roll on and I'm gone

I've read the R6 article and I agree with it. Very interesting reading... Maybe we can attribute the growing popularity of "torque sports" (MT-01, Buells, etc.) to this phenomenon?

Yes Jabba, but it is all about the torque curve. whilst what you say is true, the simple fact is that the SV is producing more useable torque throughout the rev range up to about 9,000 rpm. This does make a difference in ordinary riding conditions.
Oh, the same can also be said about the power curve!

Steve, what you're saying is true, to some degree, but it ought to be noted that the Hornet does not fall into the class of supersport IL4. For an IL4 it has a pretty flat torque curve, from memory.

Yep, but nowhere near as good as the SV... up to 9,000rpm.
Check the graphs.
