Default restricted licence

Yes, I rushed into things and after my CBT bought a CG125 and within 3 weeks passed my test - leaving me restricted for 2 whole years...which I tried to tell myself would go quite quickly. Utter rubbush, every day and another cross on the calendar seemed like a decade !!
So I approached my local DAS instructed and hired him for just 2 days. Day 1 to get used to a bigger machine. Day 2 - test day at 2pm - after more practice in that morning. I passed. Best £250 I ever spent and that included £50 for the test. After all it would have cost me nearly £200 to have a SV restriced (including fitting) so for an extra £50 I've got 2 years out of the way........makes financial sense.
If you are riding an unristricted bike on a restricted licence your insurance will be invalid. God forbid that you are ever involved in a fatal RTC - withiut insurance - your life will be changed for ever. Even if you're not, you go to court for driving inaccordance with a driving licence and get a fine and points....(bet thats more than your £50) and, wait until you declare this little lot when you try to get re-insured....IS IT REALLY WORTH IT ??

no mate thats fine

basically the question sounded like u wanted to de restricted it, most of us get worked up a lol bit bout that, so we appologise if u took it personally, we felt it was just better to tell u now that if u did it would be wrong, than after u did and it all went pear shaped, just trying to help!

tut tut but i like your thinking

if u are thinking of swapping it out remeber, u will be uninsured and ur licence will be worthless,

and what makes u think ur above the law??

if ur just wanting to know for when ur licence matures then ignore the above!
i've had my full licence now, have had for some time. i didnt mean to get to anyone on the subject. i can just understand why it is frustrating having been there and got the t-shirt. if you do de-restrict it then be careful and remember the issues if you are caught. it wont just be a ticking off

Yeah, yeah.
In all seriousness, they obviously meant he had caused the fatality, not got killed. (but then you obviously knew that then, didn't you?!)
Thing is, the Personal Representatives of the deceased can still sue his sorry ar**. No good just thinking 'it aint gonna happen to me'.

Blah Blah Blah.

I'm bored of these threads. Can one of the moderators make a sticky so everyone can whinge on about their own personal crusade for or against restriction, and then it can stay up for anyone who wants to view it.

Or can we just delete the threads as soon as they spring up?

They are boring, and allways raise the same points, and they allways result in people arguing about precisely feck all.

Someone please, for the sake of my sanity (and my arteries, cheers for the tip about cutting lengthways burner), delete this terrible drivel.

Dan.
