Had this debate with the lads on the S.Wales run at the weekend.

I've got the MK7 kit fitted to mine, so no other option really to stick it to the aircraft hanger on the back of the bike.

It looked as though the Scottoiler had stopped working, I had adjusted the stting to 2, but then was advised by one of the lads that this may not work, so we agreed to set it to between 5 & 6. It now looks as though it's working, there's definately oil coming out onto the sprocket.

But must admit, a bit confusing to understand how it works, I've also been on the web site, still none the wiser

Does anyone know where to get the simpl explanations from?

Sorry for butting in on the thread BTW

Butt right in - I was confused too!

I think it's going to go behind the rear fairing. I have absolutely no-idea how to connect it to the engine though...

MK 7 is the standard kit, I'm assuming you mean the extra large touring res.

Short version: Vacumn from the engine used to allow a needle valve to open. The pressure caused by the head of oil through the pipe allows a flow. The setting just controls how wide the needle valve is allowed to open.

From what i can gather, on the K4, the vacuum plug is at the front of the engine, i think, just above the front cylinder (Sid Squid can confirm or deny) look for a plug with a bit of rubber covering it. If you have lowers, go to the exhaust side of the bike and look through the lower fairing 'window' and you should see it.

Carsick, on the rideout someone (forget who) told me you have the touring one fitted underseat. Is this true and if so, are the standard MK7 and additional "magnum" resevoir a fair distance apart?

Mass, mine is also behind the numberplate. Doesn't look too bad, but it's fairly easily 'sabotageable', so I'm looking at ways of tidying it up. Also, if I were to get the Suzuki oem undertray I'd want to still keep the touring bit.

Not me.

If you need extra capacity, have a look at the lube tube. It's bendy and can be squeezed into the wasted space at the bottom of the undertray, I think.

For anybody confused on where the vacumn pipe goes; it goes on the rear throttle body. Look through the largest triangle cutout on the right hand side, you can see a metal rod, follow that back and you will see a rubber cap with a metal clip on it. Pull the rubber cap off and put the black elbow piece with the vacumn hose attached.

It really is as easy as that to hook into the vacumn; routing your delivery tube is another matter, of course.

yeah, unfortunatly mine was a tank up, airbox off kinda deal to find the vacuum. So much easier for an SV (New shape).

If you go to the scottoiler website, I'm sure they have a photo of vacuum tube installation on both new and old SV's.
