Default Part number...

5SL-26240-00-00

From Yamaha dealer. Mine is coming with a grip. Interestingly the grip for the other side costs more.

Something like £9 including FAT.

Thanks again for the info Will.

No. Although unlike the SV throttle tube, the R6's is smooth, so you'll need superglue to stop the grip rotating.

OE LHS SV grip doesn't look that different, I wouldn't bother changing.

Does it take any getting used to for rev matching?

BTW...there are some of these for sale on Ebay, specifically for k3+ sv's, but havn't read about or heard any feedback on them.

The kits? I've heard they can wear out quickly, most of them are basically little things you put on your existing rocker to change the cam profile. For the carbed bike they make no sense when the throttle tube's easier, cheaper and better, but I'm not sure how much work's needed to make it work for the K3>s. Not much from memory.

Default Still not heard from Ron Larimer...

...still heard nothing from Ron by either PM or email so maybe he's on holiday or something.

Can anyone help me out with a few tips or a guide on the R6 throttle install on a carbed bike?

Cheers, Steve.

Lift tank.
Loosen throttle cables.
Remove bar end weight
Remove throttle grip, philips screws underneath.
Remove throttle cable from OE throttle tube, replace with R6 throttle tube.
Re-assemble in reverse order.

Check out your Haynes or owner manual and read through the sections for adjusting throttle cables.
If you haven't got a Haynes you can get one from most Halfords.

It's very simple, you're just taking tension off the cables and replacing one part with the new one. Take your time and you'll be fine.

Default Cheers Burner!

Thanks for that Burner. I had to make a start before you responded - the only thing I didn't do was lift the tank and loosen the cables at that end. I instead relied on brute force to get the cables onto the new throttle tube.

The only way I've been able to test I can still get 100% throttle, is to (engine off) twist the grip all the way open and it makes the same *tink* sound in the engine (or carbs I guess).

Is that a sufficient check bearing in mind on a road test it'd be hard to judge my acceleration is with 100% rather than 95%?

Cheers, Steve.
