No probs, I expect I'd be just as angry. I think I'd have done it myself anyway though, just cos I wouldn't trust your dealer

Mine fell off just after my first service

Are dealers not retorqueing them at services or summit? You need a special thin spanner or to dismantle the bit with the circlip on from the looks of it it, maybe one of those little jobs that gets overlooked...

Mine fell off in busy traffic, as well.
I ended up fixing it at the side of the road with a very small torch from BaldyMan and the bikes toolkit.

You can get at it with one of the spanners that come with the tool kit, but it's still not sitting in the bolt hole properly.

I think its a threadlock jobby

Perhaps as at least 3 (or 4?) of you have had this happen it should be flagged as an 'everyone check...' type post, it might get overlooked here and clearly theres an issue. Personally if it were me Id be taking mine into a dealer to ahve it checked even if it hadn't fallen off.

The spanner in the toolkit will allow you to turn the bolt to do it up (which will certainly be good enough to get you home), but as you know there isn't the space to tighten it properly.

I used a screw driver to get the circlip off, remove the lever, tightened the bolt properly and put it back together (getting the circlip back on was a ******* though).

OR

Does nayone on here have anyones ear at Suzuki?
And mention to them that this is a fault with the K4.

As it's only the K4 with this kind of gear change, the K3 has it bolted to the foot peg, and the K5 is different again.

Might be worth it, before someone has a serious accident.

IF not, I don't mind being the one to make contact

It's probably not the best of designs, but then again, I think it's probably something that should be checked before the bike is even sold. I probably should have complained to the dealer I bought the bike off when it happened to me, really.

Yep, I used the included spanner as a "get home" measure. I didn't fancy butchering the circlip without a pair of circlip pliers (to butcher it with ). I didn't have anything that would fit the hex on the back and that was thin enough to fit into the gap (plus, after it fell off once, I wanted it torqued/'tight as fook', rather than just enough to hold it in place )

Took it to the garage that did the service and they did it in 5 minutes. Glad to see (in a perverse sort of way) that it's not just my bike that had the problem, which hasn't, touch wood, recurred.

Right OK,

I have contacted Suzuki Customer Service centre, they are going to tell their technical dept to look into it, and are going to contact the Suzuki dealer.
The guy I spoke to did say that this is the first he has heard of this problem though.
I mentioned that it was not just me that had experienced this fault.

We shall see. But it may well be worth making a sticky for everyone to check this part of the bike every now and again.
De ye think?
