hmmmm, well i think i have smooth throttle control and i have no problem, except when the engines cold once warmed up its seet . if youre heavy handed then it will react badly, i found the same thing happens with girls. perhaps Italian men just dont have the same subtle hand control as your british cousins ![]() |

claim 1000 snatchier - well, for a given throttle setting in gears 1-3, the 'snatch' is enhanced by the bigger engine putting out more torque. With practice you adjust pretty quick to this. claim 650 snatchier - that extra torque in the thou lets you ride much more smoothly round town, you definitely cut way down on the number of gear 2-3 transitions when stop-starting between lights and roundabouts, so you're giving the 650 more chances to 'snatch' you. I haven't ridden the SV1000 but I now have a Triumph Daytona (955cc Fuel injected engine) and can't say it's any more or less 'jerky' than the SV650 was.
I did find (as said before) that the TPS and the TRE mods both improved the 'jerkiness' of the SV a little, as did an aftermarket (race) exhaust can. all of these were minor improvements though but were noticeable. Another thing which improve things a little id to increase your idle speed, as the engine revs will not drop so far when coming off the throttle. It's simple but it might just help. You do mention that the throttle id not as jerky on other bikes you have ridden... Do I assume these were not V-Twins!!?? The configuration and carachteristics of V-Twins would in theory, increase the chance of having a 'jerky' throttle response. I did find that I got used to it pretty quickly though! HTH |
