Okay here are the dyno charts:

http://www.johnnyrod.co.uk/sv700.jpg

The II indicates the stage II cams. Like i said, this aside my bike only makes 1bhp less at the top, once you go to a bigger bore then other bits like the valvegear become the limiting factor.

Northwind, how big a difference was it when you did the cam swap on yours?

The Akrapovic on the 650 looks to be a good bang per buck with reliability option.

Hmm, to me system, filter and rejet is pretty pricey if you buy new- you're looking at probably around £700 for parts on a carbed bike plus set-up work, for decent but not massive results. In terms of price and results I'd say the cams are better for sure.

On the other hand, my WRP system was £250, the BMC was £40, the Stage 1&3 DJ kit plus some bigger jets was £40 off ebay, and I set it up myself- it needs finished up on a dyno though. That's pretty good bang for your buck

With the cams... I'd not really like to hazard a guess how much extra power I got, I'm very bad at that Plus I changed other elements of my setup at the same time. But still, it gives a very healthy boost to peak, and broadens out the peak still further (personally I'm not too bothered about the headline figure, more about the power and torque curves as a whole) I'd expected it to weaken things further down but actually didn't work out that way, or not so I've noticed- it'll still pull from 2000 rpm

It'll be going in for dyno work at some point this month, to be honest I can't be bothered to do any more trial and error- I had it pretty good then replaced the exhaust, and now it's rubbish So I should be able to get a power figure then.

I has an Akropovic on my previous SV and highly recomend it, top sound and very smooth with NO fueling mods required. I would expect it to be top bananna with mods.

Personalyl I'd judge how effective a breathing mod is by how much rejetting it needs to make it work right My bike ran like rubbish with the full system but no rejet, lean everywhere.

Modified WRP Lite... Stubby can and wider internals, and all the pipework's titanium £250 off Ebay plus a lot of elbow grease! The can as stock was too long for hte SV and a little restrictive. It's very good, but I'd be amazed if it's better than the Akrapovic, their R&D's out of this world.

You can run an SV fine on a full system without rejetting/remapping but why would you? You're paying a ton of extra money and choosing not to get the benefit- and you'll almost certainyl run worse than you would with a slip-on.

Your right when buying a full system you should really go for the air and jet mods too. I paid £450 for the system and was saving up for the rest when the bike decided to throw me and itself down the road. The Titanium was pretty trick but not very thick, crumpled like a coke can.
