The worst is when you are accelerating hard and when in 2nd at about 8k it decides to pop out and red line. Nice...

Especialy when going around a long corner. Usaly happens if the road has a defect in it.

It's worse when you're using the engine braking, that contributed to my first off...

There is a sort of neutral twixt each gear and the next, each gear must be cleanly disengaged before the next is engaged, if it wasn't then two gears would be engaged at once, this is bad, when it happens - it's rare but it does happen - it all gets very expensive, and if you're travelling at any sort of proper speed the resulting lock up will give you plenty of time to ponder this while you're sliding along on your ****.

I have gotten a "false neutral" between every gear, and I only have 4K miles. But I blame that on my lazy ass foot.

I guess the twitchy-ness of the ...gearbox... is part of the "character" of the SV.

Does chain tension have anything to do with this? I'm sure I read something about the SV saying it doesn't have the best gearbox and can be very sensitive to chain tension, leading to false neutrals between gears.

I have had it happen as Sid describes, normally between 4th and 5th.

I did find it happened more with my winter boots. I never seem to have a problem with my Sidii Vertebrae or is it Vertibri?
