Yamaha are using the "big bang" firing order? I did not know that? I know that Kawasaki are for sure though?
The Ducati GP5 has come an incredible long way fast when you consider as already stated, the development and race budget that Ducati have is a pittance compared with Honda and Yamaha. I will stick my neck out and say that when the engine size is reduced the Ducati will be even better.
I would even go as far as to say that much as I love Loris Capirossi.....put someone like Melandri on it and it would be a winning bike now.

I hope the road version for semi normal budgets comes out before I decide to hang up my sliders....as I would snap one up no probs. The limited Nš version though you can forget as that will be horrendous money!

Virgin Yamaha and Rob McElnea are using it in BSB as well.

Aren't there issues with modifications like this which are effectively changing the crank?

Apparently BSB rules allow for extensive engine Mods, I think it was brought in a couple of years back so that the IL4 1000cc bikes could use special posh metal that I cant remember the name of for the crank and conrods. This was brought in after I think John Reynolds GSX-R 1000 lunched its motor and covered one particular track in oil and then had to abandon the meeting.

It means that they can run higher compression more revs so to get more power, At the time they Ducatis were still beating the IL4 and they wanted to even things out.

I think though this has been banned in WSB

Ahh, that'll be why I thought it wasn't allowed in BSB.

Wasn't Melandri in the D'antin team with Hodgson last year?
