Careful with them new tyres, especially if it is raining.

My tyre tells me of the large number of offs he has seen as lads gun it accross the road after having new boots fitted and whoops there goes another.

That's not a misquote either!

Remind me not to buy your bike off you e.d.

bit late now probably but the first 20 miles should be done round a busy town with lots of gear changes and uphill/downhill, accelerating in every gear and engine braking as much as possible to do an initial run in of engine & gears, this is a vee twin, you shouldn't need to use your brakes much.

Without stopping take yourself on a run but avoid motorways/dual carraigeways and long constant speed roads, change gear often but stay below the 5000 rev limit (as much as you can - the odd blip up too 7000 won't hurt)

If you've got it right you'll notice that 5000 rpm on the flat gets faster in 6th over the first 150 miles (I went from 62mph to 69mph) after 500 miles you won't do 5000rpm in 6th ever so who knows if it changes further.

A little patience now is worth a lot later - remember you are sitting on one of the fastest 0-60mph road production bikes (3.56 secs)

I'd just like to underline this. From experience.
