If the tint is illegal then it's illegal, it's irrevelent how the tint got onto the visor.
That said, a tinted insert is alot quicker to remove and keep a stroppy copper happy.

actually visor inserts are not illegal... they are fully road legal.

They are counted as this because in the governments eyes, they are quickly removable (just as quick as changing a visor over, but hey).

This is also proven by the fact teh shops can sell them, and are not allowed (or not supposed to) sell race visors.

Wasn't there a case last year where some outlet or other (might even have been Hein Gericke) were prosecuted by Trading Standards becuase certain visor inserts didn't let the prescribed amount of light through? Or HG couldn't prove it?

Im sure someone said they had bought a black visor at HG. Howevere that may be on UKGser so could be a load of crap.
