I'm bikeless since the SV got smashed up... but have been thinking about what I want next and it's going to be another SV... though it's not looking likely until near the end of the year.

At least the prices will be even lower then than they are now

Hornet.

Really wanted an sv, was about to buy brand spanker as I had jsut sold my er5, but the salesman wouldnt budge on his price. So, I walked out (on the sunday) went to work on monday, dad bought me ad trader when I got back from work, found a cheap hornet, phoned, rode it on the tuesday and bought on the wednesday.

Never looked back. It's still too quick for me...crazily fast.

I only really got a hornet because it was cheap at £1400. No service history, hell no documents but the V5 and the thing only has 1k on the clocks (been replaced). Plus its red with blue wheels and has been down a few times.

Still...much better financial choice than buying the new sv.

I was thinking of doing a similar post to this one.

I still have my SV but cant ride it as the insurance is now on my ZRX1200R.
SV is up for sale.

Reason for change.......Needed something better 2 up, with more power, better brakes, better suspension, more torque, more style.

The SV is a great bike and i'd recommend it to anyone, but the REX is in another league.

only had the sv a short time but i can honestly say that for the foreseeable future i couldn't want anything more.
i love the v-twin so if i was going to change bikes it'll be for another v-twin. i would like a tl1000r but imho getting a bigger bike is not worth the extra costs.
so maybe a ducati monster? but i've heard the engine isn't as good as the sv and i would like another faired bike.
so if unless anyone could suggest another alternative i'll probs stick with the sv and concentrate on making it even better and more beautiful
(until i a few years down the line anyway )

No - cos wanted bigger naked bike with better build quality. The CB1300 is great apart from gear change being a bit clunky and lack of centre stand and the build quality is a lot better than the SV (apart from headers). The torque and smoothness are great and as a (fat) Bambi the greater weight and planted feel give me more confidence.

However... I do miss the fun of the SV, the fact that it's a V twin and everything that goes with that and its gretaer manoeuvrability (is that a word?) and if it I weren't subject to Higher Powers would probably have kept it when I got the CB. I don't miss trying to keep the b*gger clean!
