Doesn't have to be a brick garage mate, you might get away with a decent shed as long as it has a strong lock on it. I'd suggest you call the insurers with a prospective enquiry and ask about their policy on garages and their construction requirements. For obvious reasons don't admit who you are

When I compained about my premium this year my brokers said if I stuck it in my (bit ramshackle wooden) shed it would be considered garaged (currently keep SV in back garden, locked gate and ground anchor). When I said I couldn't because the shed sits on earth & couldn't anchor bike, they quoted anyway without anchor & quote was cheaper! Declined shed/garage cover as *I* want bike anchored.

When I downgraded the Horrible Virago from garaged to lying in a heap down the side of the house, the increase in premium was something like £1.50... Just daft.

I have an anchor in the garden, but am thinking about building a purpose built shed for two bikes around it. Think it would be better for paint not fading in the long run. And if it has bricks around, electric supply, alarmed and an extremely secure door, then I'm sure it would be as good as a garage, and I don't see why I could not call it that, but I would still lock to the anchor.

i used to keep all my bikes in a 8*10 shed, i always told the insurance and they put it down as garaged.
