the local garage near me (total) has been robbed twice in 2 years by men in helmets.

They got very stroppy with me a week or so after a robbery, which I can understand. Now while they have all the signs saying take off your helmet I dont bother, and they dont ask me, not sure if they've calmed down or recognise me.

If someone insisted, I'd probably switch garages, but then I doubt they'd notice the drop in trade.

I dont think the problem relates to "drive offs" as I was allowed to fuel up with my helmet on, its only when you pay they want you to take it off.

You can pay-at-pump at this garage so no need to take helmet off for that, but I was paying in cash so had to go into the shop.

Their only reason must be that they are worried about me robbing them at the till. I've never heard of any problems in Plymouth of motorcyclists robbing petrol stations, so I feel their actions are totally unjustified.
But I can't be sure of their reasons as they couldn't give me one.

I can understand that some staff may feel intimidated with lids, especially in an area with a history of trouble. However, I'm fortunate in that I have a choice of local station, and the one that's fine about lids gets my business, both for cage & bike, because they make life so much easier on the bike.

I have never seen anyone pay at a servo with their helmet on, and i always take mine off. Not sure if its a rule, but not many do it here, if any.
