Ring was hella scary, one of the blokes I went with only did 1 lap cos he was so scared. My advice is dont do a wet lap ... its like riding on ice the whole way round.

personally I would have gone for option one. lean the bike and trust it and if it does it fine, if it doesnt, a low side and slide is probably better than flying through the air. especially if theres a risk of the bike landing on you.

but glad youre ok. bikes mend, people are a lot harder to fix.

Glad you're ok Sprocket shame about the bike. Good job it wasnt the rounabout at the entrance gates with the big metal sculpture.

It's no joke on those road surrounding the ring A256/258 just got back from there myself yesterday. It was p*ssing down and i reckon they use different sort of tarmac over there cos it was like riding on a top coat of olive oil. They put so many white lines all over the roads too that you just spin up sideways if you so much as look at one. Keeps you on your toes though :P

I didnt get on the ring after all the bl**dy place was shut when i got there on thursday 28th July at 19:45 so i thought i'd swing by on the way back yesterday got there 11:30 but it was closed to the public till 17:30 couldn't hang about cos had ferry to catch. so i'll have to go back another time.

The weather was pretty poor for most of the week i was on the continent got cought in rain or thunder storms every night bar 2 . Fortunately it was a nice day at Sachsenring for the MotoGP.

Made it back though over 3200miles, 8 countries and a pricipality later.

How long were you out there for?

We headed out last Thursday and stayed in Belgium the first night before heading to Cochem on Friday. Theres some lovely roads from Cochem to the ring and was on those roads I had my crash. Had Friday and Saturday at the ring though. Did a lap on Friday with all our gear on the bikes. Then got 2 laps in on Saturday but was wet for a lot of Saturday. Did one lap in the wet which was the scariest thing ever, was like ice the whole the way round.

I was glad I got to do the ring before crashing (off the ring) LOL I still couldn't believe I didn't crash ont he ring but on an open road

Glad you had more luck with the track time than me

Did you look in the Suzuki/Ducati/BMW bike showroom on the perimeter road by the nurburgring short curcuit? Quite a plush shop.
