Damn!
That sounds nasty but typical!
As Bill says - strike while the iron is hot rather than be struck!
Hope you heal well and get the bike sorted asap.

I recommend that you tell your insurance company - better that they should find out from you, and not the guy you hit, or even the Police that were no doubt in attendance.

I think you can guarantee that he will try and sue you for personal injury, despite the blame. You're insured, he's not. What you might be able to do is claim from the MIB for uninsured losses - ie: that you hit someone who was uninsured. You might want to initiate your own PI claim too.

Be on the defensive from the start Matt... this might get nasty. Do it by the book, or someone will throw it at you.

Hope we see you soon!
I had to claim from the MIB for my accident in 2003. I have only, like last week, had my claim settled!!!

same as everyone else said really.... those pesky pedestrians.. can you claim off their house insurance or something similar?

get well soon and milk it with the missus for as much sympathy as you can get.

Bad news.

I am not sure if the MIB would be able to help as they compensate victims of untraced or or uninsured drivers but not as far as I know numpty pedestrians.

If the ped was on duty and doing his job at the time (EG a postman or salesman) you might have a claim from the firm.

Otherwise it's a personal claim. I had the same thing happen when I was on my scooter a few years back and the only option was a private action and as the bloke was an uninsured poor pedestrian it just wasn't viable so I had to cut my losses. At least the ped in question admitted fault and was very sorry and did not try to sue me in return.

I hope you are going to sue the pedestrian presuming that they were not on a crossing.

BigApe has about 20 spare indicators of all size and shapes, I think that is due to how many offs he's had.
Good Luck with getting yourself and the bike back on the road.

Bad luck. I hope that you recover soon - separated shoulders can hurt for ages. I know this from unfortunate experience. Were there any witnesses?
