Why can't the rear shock be covered with a gaiter. Makes sense to me and probably cheaper than a hugger.
I had gaiters on my old pre-unit Bonneville's forks. |

It can be... They're not so easy to find though. There used to be a company that sold stylish nice ones on Ebay for about a tenner.

Probaly not the best idea. Whats wrong with spending five minutes with a bucket of soapy water and a brush?. You ride during the winter and your bike will get dirty..nothing you can do about that.
The socks i had on my KTM off roader over the fork stantions and all they did was collect the salt and mud and then rub it up and down the stantion causing a nasty mess. They stay damp too after getting wet... best plan..allow yourself five mins to hose the bike off with cold water when you get in or a bucket wash if you have nose hose...costs next to nothing and is the best thing... |

I have a standard, and it's crap. The bolts holding it on have seized on as well so I can't take it off cos it looks **** too.

I,ve got the pyramid one- and it does the job fer me..
but then I am fastidious about cleaning my bike and there is rarely mud on it for longer than temn minutes after i get home !! |

I think a hugger can certainly reduce the crap being thrown at the rear shock but it is impossible to keep dirt of the rear swing arm unless the rear wheel is completely enclosed which of course is ridiculous.
Some of the crap getting on the rear swing arm will also be caused by spray from the front wheel. ![]() |
