I have seen a truck in lane one pull over and block someone doing this but in your case the event is well and truely over so you will need to come to terms with that.Counselling is available if you need it.(From me at vast expense

Seriously though - I'd be on the phone with his plate for that. It's VERY naughty and not looked upon at all well. These people should have to ride shotgun in an ambulance or fire engine under blues

in order to appreciate what the hard shoulder is there for. Send them out for a week so that they lose a weeks wages as well as a nasty fine!

ASBOs - very much misunderstood by Joe Public. They aren't parking tickets to be dished out at the slightest thing. I don't fully understand either.

Before you get too upset, the van driver might have had a genuine reason to be breaking the law like this.

For all you know it could be a plain clothes police operation in an unmarked van, or a bloke driving with a pregnant woman onboard who is on route to hospital. Or maybe an elderly passenger who is suffering a heart attack.

I sometimes wonder what I would do if I was driving a car or a van in a genuine emergency situation where I needed to get somewhere fast in a life or death situation, and how I would get through heavy traffic without rubbing all the boy racers and stubborn drivers up the wrong way. So they don't go over the top in impeding my progress.

my suggestion would be to take a deep breath and count to 10.

no use blowing a gasket over some guy who was in a hurry, he took a chance breaking the law he may have got away with it this time, he may do again but he'll get caught one day i'm sure. vigilantes rarely win in the long run
