Do you get any up North?

Yep, in the Spring/Summer

OK, will have to consider "what's on offer" for going a bit further North and how long it will take to get there. I'll have a think....

Right, I've had a think about it.....

I reckon I could leave my place at 16:30 and head to Cherwell services on the M40 (J10) get some chow, then:
  • 18:00 Depart Cherwell Valley M40
19:15 Arrive Esso Hilton Park M6 Northbound (114 Miles)
    19:30 Depart Esso Hilton Park
    21:30 Arrive Total (A606, Colne, BB8 (108 Miles)
21:45 Depart Total on A6068 (East)
    22:00 Arrive Skipton (13 Miles)
That's allowing 2 x 15 minute breaks and average of only 60 mph on the motorways.

Coming back is a little more complicated as I want to take in the Cat & Fiddle, Buxton and Matlock Bath. However, as long as the group is not too big, and we don't take to long on the petrol stops it's got some potential.

Will need to sort a date (pref not when there is a race meeting on)

Good man Jelster!

Right - YOU collect probable numbers, I'LL find you accomodation (let me know if you are going to share rooms or all go "single"). It may be that numbers dictate the accomodation, but 17/18 June or 1/2 July look good at present. (Note: No MotoGPs on those weekends, no England WC match on the first weekend, but potential QF on 1 July...but its an evening KO)

I'll plot you the best route to Skipton (as I go dahn sarrf more than you come ooop north), a good Saturday ride-out, maybe arrange a Saturday night Barbie AND give you a route back to the Pony and Trap or whatever the road's called, plus Matlock etc etc

We may even have a surprise guest, for whom I'm going to try to get my old CZ running......it might need a new Dunlop Roadmaster I suppose.

HEADS UP Pennine Massive......VISITORS!!!

He he he...I did not realise that we are now talking of more balmy climes that June or July offer oop north! Begins to become ever more appealing as the posts increase! Although by then I would have had enough of boring sunny days anyway and will be glad to see a bit of rugged and green landscape.

I have received my telegram in respect of a call to wheels against the invading suvvern foe and will be going in to training to ensure I am on top form. The prospect of what is being put together here sounds very exciting to me and may well be the highlight of the year.

I am though likely to rely upon someone being able to organise a steed for my use for the weekend. I hope we can find something to match my ability and the choices presently I believe are between:

BSA Bantam 175

Honda C90

Seized Head 175

Kymco scooter.

(Well at least I should be able to keep pace with that there Blade runner from dahn sarf then!)

Well indeed it seems to spout enough hot air it might well be a steam powered jobbie!

I remember the 70's versions being rather the machine that everyone felt had been poked too much with the ugly stick!

Perhaps a bigger stick might be taken to the latest version we have witnessed?
