If you use a cover for any period you *must* remove it every so often to allow the bike to dry out, conditions under a cover are perfect for building up condensation, also you must turn the cover inside out and let that dry too, particularly if the cover has a non scratch lining - they hold the wet even more.

Agreed. When I layed up the bike for a month last winter, the lining (which the stormex has) was slightly damp after a week's use. I took it off, run a rag over the condensation on the tank then put the cover back on the next day once it and the bike had dried.
