I used up sh*t loads of oil on my svsk3 and i ended up doing my big-ends because i did'nt check it that much . my RR uses even more oil than my sv did but now i check it everytime i take the bike out.

Its strange how u learn by your very costly mistakes.

Get a centre stand

I do it more or less the same as Ceri JC, and I'm extremely weak Though I don't check the stand's still down, there's no reason it wouldn't be if you do it right, so I just lower it gently back on. It doesn't take much strength to stand the bike up...

Thanks for the information people. It's reassuring to know that most of your bikes don't use oil very much at all as is the case with my bike despite regular checks. Have only had to add a tiny amount at about 6k.

Mine doesnt use oil between changes either, but to check it I open my car boot and the bike just stands upright against the bumper, put a towel or blanket over it if you worry about scratches

Hello,

Check the oil as much as possible, otherwise you'll end up like me. 2nd engien, not nice, not cheap, and you'll be well pi$$ed off.

And the oil on the Sv is like a box of chocolates, you don't know what you're gonna get. I missed 1 service interval, and the original engine decided to go bang on me down the M4.

As the text says next to my avatar...
