So long as you are not worried about the warranty on your bike, do the servicing yourself. Those stamps in the book may mean a guaranteed service history. But a self made one including receipts is as good as.

I change the oil in my bike every 3000 miles and change the filter every other oil change. Every single time the wheels come off, which is a lot more than every normal service, the bearings get checked, the axle spindle gets a new coat of grease. The brakes get bled more often. etc etc.

All that information, logged in your own service book (with receipts to back up the dates you did these things) would impress me more than a standard fully stamped up service book would.

Log down when you changed the fork oil, changed the sprockets and chain, checked the head bearings etc etc...

I pay about £75 at each interval for a 4000 service, and do all the extra stuff myself. I still get the stamp, and anything I might miss doing it myself (the little things, usually) should hopefully be checked.

How much? The service schedule is for Oil, and Plugs. It's not even filters!
