This is a Mistake, for they are excellent.

You seem to be undecided as to what it is that you want in terms of tyre purpose/performance, the Conti's, (as great as they are), simply aren't intended to be 'sports' tyres, which is what the three varieties that you first mention are, the RA's are best considered sports-tourer tyres.

They'll still outperform 95% of us though.

Im still on the standard tyres. The bike has done 4500 miles now and my cousin said today he thought the rear was starting to square off! I thought it was ok however im wondering how much better Metzelers or Conti's are over the factory fitted tyres. Took the bike out for the first time this year today and went round a corner when the tyres were cold at low speed and felt the back just slip out slightly

Should both tyres be changed at the same time?

Ideally yes. Though note that cold tyres will slip regardless of manufacturer.

That's not square!!! You should have seem my old Bridgestones now they were square. I had trouble getting round corners they were that bad.
