5 Minutes late.... 10 Minutes early

My journey to work is only 10 miles, so by the time I have got my bike gear on, got the bike out of the garage, locked up, parked at work and got changed again it is not a lot quicker than going by car.

I do however always arrive with a smile on my face when I come in on the bike

fool, get some kevlar jeans, and waterproof jacket if i was only traveling ten miles it'd be leather jacket gloves and lid, how hard is that

I am in a similar predicament - so I bought some Hood Jeans and feel almost as safe as normal leathers, plus I dont have to change (apart from shoes) when I get to work - works for me!

So how will kevlar jeans help - I wear a suit at work so I would still have to change - fool

I wear waterproof armoured trousers over my suit trousers in the winter, with an armoured waterproof jacket. I wear full leathers now that the weather is drier. Even though it is only 10 miles I prefer not to compromise my safety by wearing kevlar jeans.

Ahh, fair point!

Had to take the bike this morning, couldn't be bothered to scrape the screen on the car.

Felt the coldest yet although i know it wasnt.

I leave 10 minutes later than my counterpart who also travels the same route. I arrive 20-40 minutes earlier depending on traffic. Once was an hour earlier.

Looks like I'm the odd one out then. Car 35 mins. Bike 45 mins

But the route on the bike is soooo much more fun (except this morning which was all about avoiding loads of ice patches )

I just can't bring myself to do motorways on the bike when there are all those nice roads out there.

I wear a suit at work - leave the jacket at work, every thing else stays on under the waterproof goretex. You can now get a good choice of suits in fabrics that resist creases, the guys I meet don't seem to mind the Italian styled Goretex clothes I wear!

I've used the bike all this week so far and I have to say I'm a lot happier for it. Just carve through the traffic at the Tyne Tunnel. I would be early but I've been taking detours to pad out my jurney

As for the cold I never notice it now. I have some nice warm textile gear (curtsy of Lidl), heated grips that allow me to wear summer gloves all the time and a scarf thingy. Might as well be the middle of summer today. In fact I would probably complain its too hot. Just give me above freezing and sunshine and I'm as happy as Larry.
