Northwind you crack me up! I don't know why PO clerks seem to think they have the right to know the ins and outs of your business. Have you noticed how most PO clerks are REALLY ugly. I reckon that's why they are so disgruntled with the world.

Don't forget you have to have a pre-booked appointment with the MOT testing station.

As for police booking someone for having an MOT where they accidentally wrote 1006 and fixed it to 2006, oh come on, we have better things to do.
Like booking people for illegal cans!

Yes, you are right there, forgot to say that. I was pre booked, even though the MOT place is just around the corner. You never know what may happen.

Ignore the jobsworth for refusing you a tax disc but he does have a point that your MOT is theoretically invalid as it has been altered. The MOT station should have re-issued you a valid MOT cert to avoid this.

You do need to get another certificate as although we police officers blessed with discretion and are not those black and white busy bodies will simply advise you that your MOT isn't a legal document and you need to get a re-print.

Good luck!!

Don't worry, I got the tax disc after a bit of pleading (I gave him my sob story about the DVLA messing me about and he was much nicer after that). I'm going to get the garage to re-issue the cert.

I just had the same problem when i went to tax my car, the berk at the MOT place had written M322 instead of M332 on the MOT certificate.

Was told by the women in the post office that my MOT wasnt valid and i couldnt have road tax, explained it was a typo, but she was adamant.

Asked to see her boss and showed him the previous MOT`s and explained i only had 10 days left on the MOT certificate, and he told her just to give me the tax.

This years certificate is all printed out, much better.

As for road tax, well as long as your bike is MOT ok & you have insurace then whats the fuss about riding it to the PO. Its legal for you to ride it from the MOT station back home so you could say that you were riding back from the MOT station & that you would only be getting a Tax disk if your bike had passed its MOT which is what the insurance company are looking for to say that your bike is roadworthy.

Silly nobs at the PO.
Only legal if you have pre booked an MOT and it must also be the most direct route too and from WITHOUT STOPPING.

I oncce rode a brand new bike 12 miles to a dvla centre with no plates and no tax just so they could check out the clasification . all this through the town there and back passed several police vehicles and not one of them noticed no numberplate.

go figure that one
