Here, BTW Joe, if you are un-comfortable talking about this in the forum, give me a PM. Your symptoms sound similar to something I went through for a while when I moved out to NYC initially.

I had something simialr. It was caused by stress, long hours, and an office that was horrible to work in.

I had a week off and basically slept for a week and then went back to work and swapped jobs with a colleague for a less stressful job role.

I get it now again. If any of the following are true.

1. I've got something on my mind and cant sleep properly
2. I dont eat properly i.e. junk food all the time.
3. I drink to much tea or coffee, I cant cope with more than 3 cups a day and any caffeine or Alcohol in the evenings will keep me awake at night and disrupt my sleep pattern.
4. My workload at work goes nuts and I try to juggle to many tasks.
5. I'm dehydrated or havent eaten any food for ages.

Personally If I was you I would give up or at least cut down smoking. Dont drink any alcohol or stimulants. Stick to water or fruit juice and if you eat alot of junk and takeaways try and cut that out to.

Getting some more exercise is a good idea to, but dont over do it.

You've done the right thing by going to the Dr, see what the Dr says and follow the advice you are given. It might just be you are knackered and need a holiday or a rest.

All the best.

My white blood cell count plummeted well into the full blown AIDS range. There were periods of time I was essentially a walking piece of warm meat. (But would then bounce back up to normal levels...)

Stress and lack of sleep can have astonishing effects on humans it seems. (Which, I suppose, means the converse is true. Ie, you can have a strong effect for the good on your body.)

Yeah I can't sleep at the moment but it's just cos I crawl out of bed, sit writing my thesis at my PC all day, then crawl back into bed. My muscles are wasting away and I feel wobbly. All that is needed is a fat amount of excercise, going out to see or do something fun, and having a nice meal, then you return exhausted and collapse in a nice bed and sleep like a baby. I suppose that is hard to do if you work all day though.
