Yup, for the engine the mileage is trivial, but it's more than far enough for corrosion damage, or neglect damage. O'course, a years old bike with hardly any miles will probably have suffered from being sat, so it's all a case of balance.

Look at the tyres, chain, brake discs to see if they will need replacing shortly and check when the valve shims were last checked. These are expensive service items so price the bike accordingly. The mileage in itself is no problem if you buy at the right price.

Well, when I sold my curvy SVs (w reg) I got £1750.00 which I thought was a decent price. It had just as many extras and the o/e can AND less miles on it. Offer him £1500 then be prepared to walk away if he says no.

As tempting as it may be to buy a new / different bike don't be tempted to buy the first one that comes along (not that I'm suggesting that you are of course). Its easy to become carried away and end up with something thats overpriced.

Yes. I do speak from experience!

shop around. you can pick up similar bikes (year, mods) cheaper than this. i would go in at £1.500. see what response you get. first do a thorough fault finding check or go with someone who knows what to look over before talking money.

My first reaction to it with those extras is it has most lkely been thrashed. I'd look for one in standard trim with a good service record at a good price. There are lots out there so be patient the right one will come along.

Mmm, not neccesarily... It could equally have been treasured and loved.

That would be my first thought too. I've got an absolutely bog-standard Dec 2000 SV650S with about 18K, FSH, new tyres, new chain, new battery. Wouldn't let it go for £1500 though!
