The guy who was behind me last Friday when I was taken out by WVM stopped to make sure I was OK, so we didn't get his number

If he'd done a hit and run, then I'd have followed him, got his reg no., phoned cops and possibly tried to stop him. Hopefully other people would stop to help.
From experience i can tell you it does no good to chase someone and try to stop them. You are not entitled to behave that way. All you should do in such an instance is get the vans reg no and call 999 right away.

I recently had a similar thing happen to me, but the vehicles behind collided with each other cos they tried to avoid me and the silly bint in front who panic braked for a speed camera while on the phone.
We were going the same direction on the dual cariageway and i tried several times to tell her what had happened due to her driving while on the phone. Traffic was pretty slow moving at this point.
Shes on the phone so oblivious to it all. When i clealry tell her what happened she says, wait of it, "no it didnt" I tried to explain that since she was on the phone she has no idea of what happened thats why i'm telling her.
She ends the call and says shes calling the police on me.

I decided to g to the nearest cop shop and report it, but obviously the 999 op told her to do the same.

Patheticaly, when i reported her at the counter (after a 2 hr wait!!) i was given a self reporting form. the fact that i had not been in a collision but was witness to one seemed lost on the cops. So a waste of 2hrs of my life to help out the car and van that swiped each other.

The copper said "you should have just called us when you got home to report it and we would have stopped her if an area car came across her"
Makes life easy for them and saves you wasted time in a cop shop.
