Ok is this theyre in the UK and due to fly out tomorrow?

If so, theyre buggered. You still need a passport to "prove" youre an EU member. And you could go to the passport office and get it replaced but I guess that would mean missing the flight even with an emergency appointment.

Now, if theyre abroad its a different matter. They need to contact the Foreign Office at whichever embassy, consulate or high commission is nearest to them. They will issue a temporary passport to get them back into the country.

Now, Not saying this is without risk, but does she have a mate, sister or similar that looks close enough and has a passport that hasn't been lost? It's been done before.....

Just as long as she can remember her new name, and the ticket can be changed to that new name at short notice.

Actually, that's very true. A friend of mine went to Italy and realised only when they had arrived (having now left the airport) that his passports was actually his sons. And my dads friend accidently used his friends passport, who was female.

It's all about the confidence.

I worked for the company that takes calls from silly people who lose their passport and if I remember correct, your screwed. I assume this valuable information is a little late now anyway, isn't it?
