i had a similar problem on mine, fortunately it was still under the meta warrenty ( 2 years after installation i think) so the shop just replaced the whole box, worked fine ever since

you really could do with another fob and the red card as someone else (the shop) may actually be able to pinch your bike without the alarm going off

not much help i know, but not much we can offer besides ripping the bloody thing off, or diconnect the box and get a new one, at least you won't have to wire everything up

Well I dont leave my bike where I live and I always have my disc lock on it and from what I understand, theives just pick it up and put bikes on vans and drive off anyway, so In a way, It wouldnt matter if it didnt have one for a week till I get a new one... Thats the theory behind me trying to get it disconnected.

That and the fact that the sun is shining, the bike is miles from home and I hate the tube.

The instructions for the alarm/immobiliser on the Meta website are for usage only rather than disconnection... I suppose that is right, otherwise we'll all be able to shut their stuff down and the theives will have a field day.

There is a message form on the site so I asked them for help.

But I wouldnt mind doing this myself so I learn something.

Might sound daft! but have you tried the second key fob that you have? I had a problem that my Meta wouldnt disarm yesterday so had to get roadside to take me home, however when i got home i tried the second key fob and it worked fine Just a thought?

Yeah but the trouble is I dont have another keyfob... just the one sadly. By the way, yesterday when this happened to you, did you click the keyfob and then the allarm sound and the lights flashed but still no start?

Thats what mine was doing... as if everything is normal but without the start.

I feel like im defusing some kind of explosive. Ha ha
Some of the wires just tap on to others for power to the alarm and to see if the bike has been turned on. There should be 2 pairs that split a wire of the same colour. Thoes will be the starter & fuel pump or coils (depends on bike and setup).

Just spoke to a meta guy and he said there is no chance of changing the situation unless I have the right code and that If I had taken the battery out and put it in again, that might have been the cause. I did do that recently. He was saying doing it again might work but only if its an early system. Bugger

I was told to get scotchloks and join the wires like that.

So am I trying to cut off the power to the immobiliser then?... That would make sense I suppose.

If you cut the power to the immobiliser it will still leave your bike immobilised. You can leave the alarm on the bike, just bridge the each of the pairs i was talking about and find out which is the problem. Otherwise remove the complete unit and put the loom back to stock. I would try bridging each pair seperatly and see which one has the fault.
