It's a good question... When common sense and common sense collide

Default oil cooler - pitch it?

Seems more of an insurance item. I've gone the other route in the past - force fit an oiler cooler where none has existed before, but I lived in the desert so it seemed wise. In your climate, I don't think it would be a necessity.

Someone you know put an oil temp on their gen2 SV? Perhaps they could ride for 30 minutes on the highway give us a temp reading. Then bypass the cooler and do the same thing.

If you are tempted to say look at the water temp, I wouldn't rely on that. THe cooland may wick heat from the engine, but the oil could still be too hot.

Over temperature oil is not good for bearings.
How many K3> have killed cranks and mains compared to carby's

If you do remove it dont just blank it off you need to remove the filter and take out the allen screw from the oil way

They wouldn't, if it wasn't needed.

It is there, ergo, it is needed.

Which is fine- so why didn't the curvy model need one, if the injected one does?

Not sure how much new Suzuki hoses are but Samnooshka recently had to replace one of hers. Took it to an industrial hose company (Pirtek) And they fitted new stainless braided bits to the existing connectors. £90 for some bling oil lines that should clean easier. (It would have been only one, but someone picked up the wrong line first and got that done, so it became a matching pair :P )

Wrong line??? hahaha not entirely accidental (well it was really but a happy accident ) but yes they are very bling and very easy to clean. Nice and strong too, if the appocolipse occurred tomorrow, they will survive alongside AOL and Cockroahes

Default cooler required?

I think i will just add this comment-The engine has to perform in all climates-so if the sv is sold in Arizona it might need one-but a temperate climate like europe realy no need-Excellent example is the AJ6 engine fitted to Jaguars of 86-89-Had oil cooler fitted-common repair when cooler/pipes go is to just remove it-Jaguar admit that not required and not one case of premature engine wear due to this removal.
