I've had this with batteries, and it can be a bit misleading. The voltages are OK, and it accepts charge so the charger thinks it's OK, but in effect you've got a battery made up of 5 good cells and one which has a very small capacity so after only a short discharge the duff cell is completely flat.

At 6yrs it's done well.

Thanks for all the info guys.

I was gonna bite the bullet and buy a battery yesterday and see if that sorts the problem out.

But nowhere had one that i could find. Except Colin Collins and they wanted £60 for something i've seen advertised for less than £40. So up theirs.

Looks like the battery will just stay on charge tonite so it will get me to work tomorrow, i'll have to take the charger with me so i can get home tomorrow night and then think about it some more from there.

I was gonna go buy a miltimeter today and check all my wiring to see if there is any rubbing on the bodywork but since i dont know anything about using a multitmeter and the rain doesnt wanna let me out of my house long enough to get the cover off the bike i wont be doing either of those things.

At least i found a place online that will deliver the battery next day by courier. So i did do something useful today

Mr Squid, expect a phone call from me tomorrow some time, and have your brain ready for picking please mate
