I have been slapped down on here for saying that the Bandit is as quick!

I went from a bandit 600 to the faired SV as I think I said to you in a previous thread I couldn't really tell much difference in performance aside from the SV having more torque lower down but the Bandit easily compensated for this by revving more easily and crucially having much shorter gear ratios.

If you shorten the gears on the SV though I bet it will kick a**.

I always felt the Bandit was more masculine and in that sense more impressive when you stood next to it. Although the SV was technically better looking I think my non biking friends preferred its image but found the Bandit more intimidating and I like that!

Ive only ridden my Sv once now, and that was in the rain.

Im used the chucking the Bandit about, and manhandleing it round corners and stuff, the SV feels like ts gong to be a different kettle od fish.

Now if the weather would stay dry for long enough to me to get my bike out ill be able to compare them properly

Run them 0-60, quarter mile, 1/8th, 60-100, the SV's faster at every one, but you're right that they don't feel as night and day as, say, SV to 636. I find it very noticable, but I've done a lot of this sort of comparison riding when working on mine. Generally the human brain's not good at noticing changes like this (for the same reason a 60bhp peaky engine feels massively more powerful than a 60bhp engine with a flat power curve)

The 650 Bandit is about 35 kilos heavier than an SV so is going to be behind in any drag race. But we are talking 10ths of a second here. Too close to call.

The older 600 Bandit is slower to the SV but to which is faster, the SV or the 650 Bandit will depend on the rider.

SV should handle better too.

I had an old 600 bandit and I was far quicker on that than the SV because I had more confidence in it

I wouldn't agree with that... In the hands of 2 equally skilled riders comfortable on the bikes, the SV should be faster all over- do it with lap times and you'll start to see a eral difference because of the braking and cornering differences.

On the other hand, do that for a couple of tanks and see who's complaining more about the riding position

I don't think the speed difference between the two bikes is big enough to make a judgement simply based on speed and acceleration.

Such as between a GSX-R600 and the SV.

Although, between you and me, If I wanted a IL4...I would have gone for the CBF600 or the Hornet....or Z750. Bandit has just not got 'IT'.

Same here, I like the Hornet... It was a straight fight between SV and Hornet, if they'd been the same price then probably I'd be on a Hornet.

Who buys an SV or a Bandit based on speed or acceleration?
